After a short journey from Iseo, we checked into Camping Bella Italia at Peschiera at the foot of Lake Garda. Thank you Ruth for recommending! It is the biggest site we have ever been to, with bungalows, apartments, cabins and rent-a-tents, but brilliantly laid out and organised, with the pitches for people like us close to the lakeside. There's a small 'village' area with shops, ice cream parlour, restaurants etc. and on more exploring this morning, we found beautiful swimming pools and gardens. All nationalilties represented including vans from Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and (lots from) Germany. Didn't spot any English, but one lady saw us when we were checking in and asked if we had really driven all the way from England! It seems most people fly and rent.
Yesterday afternoon, we walked along the lakeside path into Peschiera, found a few geocaches and admired the views.
We plan to come back to this site to see more after meeting up with Peter, Hannah, Emilie and Adam during their week in an apartment at Riva del Garda.
This morning at 8.15, when we were just drinking our tea in bed, a text came from Peter to say they were at Gatwick. Then at around 11 ish when we were just on the road to come to Torbole, another text said they'd landed in Verona. There are several campsites at the north end of Lake Garda, but we chose Camping Europa, a small quiet site, again by the lakeside in Torbole. We knew it could be breezy here as it is a haven for windsurfers, but we still have the warm sunshine when sheltered. There's a brilliant cycle/foot path between here and Riva del Garda, so we checked it out on the bikes and just got back in time for when the family arrived at 3.30 in their little white hire car. Lovely to see them all and they stayed long enough for a stroll to a cafe for ice creams! Planning to meet up with them again tomorrow.

We stayed at Malcesine at the other end of the lake some time ago. We hope the sun keeps shining for you. we had a busy day yesterday - if you have a look at my Facebook page, you will see us in action at a farm for disadvantaged children in Dartmoor.
