Lago di Ledro

Europa Camping, Torbole

Another beautiful morning yesterday when we tidied up the van ready to leave our pretty little campsite at Torbole and after stopping for a 'big shop' at Poli, we drove the 16 miles up, via a tunnel through the massive rock of Monte Englo, to the small lake Ledro.  Low season is a super time to be visiting these places - we have a lake-side pitch with a view to die for.  The site looks a little bit sad with some old 'dead' caravans, but everywhere we are receiving a great welcome and facitilies in tip-top condition.  (And of course, much cheaper than high season!)  We cycled a short way round the lake for our daily exercise, but mostly just enjoyed the view.

Today the family were coming here for the day so we were looking forward to an al fresco lunch by the lakeside .....  but for the first time in a fortnight, it rained.  It can get a little cramped with 6 of us in the van, but we had a great time playing Extreme Uno, having lunch, playing Consequences and Tommy Smartie before getting out with the brollies for a walk.  (Tommy Smartie is a Beaver game that Adam says his Beavers didn't play - it involves eating Smarties, so is extremely popular at 6th Horsham!)  The clouds were lifting as we set off, so we followed the track through the tall trees by the lake to the small village of Pur, stopped for drinks and with the rain gone, back to the site.  The family fly back home tomorrow, so we celebrated our last evening together with dinner at the campsite restaurant - probably our best meal yet and in lovely surroundings.

It's been great being with you all ...

  1. Hi John and Ann
Glad your time with the family finished on a high note. The lakeside pitch looks beautiful.

No rain here this week although it has been noticeably colder the last couple of days. Great excitement yesterday when I noticed the first signs of life in my potato patch! Today I have doused the shoots with tomato fertiliser, being the only one I have, but tomatoes and potatoes are part of the same food family, aren't they? Anyway sure it can't do any harm! Have also planted a few runner beans and courgettes in pots inside and a tub full of rocket outside. I will let you know how they all get on!

Today Fred is at synod and I have been down at the Action for Children table top sale. Spent too long chatting and eating cake to buy one of Helen Pitt's beautiful hand-made cards but snapped up a book and a few things for Tilly so can't be bad. Turn out was a bit disappointing though. Messy Church went well on Thursday and all 12 of the pizzas were scoffed, along with beans, vegetables and bread! Hoovering afterwards took a while!

This evening Andy is having some school friends round, his last chance to see them before we take him back next weekend. He has been working steadily for exams which start on May 17th. Alastair also had an assignment due in this week ( RIBA Part III, will it ever end??). It was due in at 5pm Wednesday and just a few minutes after the deadline, the next assignment popped up on his email! Understandably, he is having a weekend off.

No news from Social Services yet regarding Brenda, except that I hear from a third party that a social worker is going to do a full assessment of her on Monday. At this rate we will lose the place reserved for her at Ashtonleigh.

Did you get the photo from Michael of the bluebells? They are just starting to come out. No doubt there are wonderful spring flowers where you are too.
Have fun and keep on blogging!
    Love Carolyn
