Camping Sassabanek, Iseo, Italy

Not a lot to report about yesterday as we were on the road quite a lot of the time, but there was an amazing temperature rise once we were in Italy!  We had planned to stop at Como, but didn't like the look of the Aire, so carried on eastwards.  Satnav decided we needed to go on very main roads/motorway and we got caught in a lot of traffic, but we kept on going till we reached Iseo, a smallish lake east of Bergamo.  This is a large campsite with mainly permanent caravans, but very very quiet as none of them are occupied!

Today we have enjoyed a real 'camping' day - staying on site to bask in the sunshine, do 2 washloads and watch them dry in next-to-no-time, barbecue some chicken, wash a lettuce and listen to the birdsong.  We have adopted a blackbird who hopped around us hoping for titbits - he must own this pitch because he kept seeing off another bird who tried to get in on the pickings!  The only thing that broke the silence was a very load tannoyed announcement just before 1 o'clock telling us that it is quiet time between 1 and 3.30!!  We did later spend an hour or two wandering around the ancient little town of Iseo and along the lovely waterfront - there we soon found a Gelato shop and sat for a while watching the very slow-paced world go by.
